How to Fund Your Program

ArtREACH is a unique program that blends social services, academic assistance, and the arts in a comprehensive, free after school program for homeless children. Because of the strong partnership between museum and social services. Funding can often be procured through sources beyond those normally accessed by museums, thus expanding a museum's philanthropic and grants-based opportunities.




Possible Funding Sources

Social Services
  • County Children's Services or Human Services Divisions
  • Private & Community Foundations whose priorities focus on at-risk     children, low-income, families in need

  • School District
  • Homeless Education Initiatives

    Government Grants
  • National Endowment for the Arts
  • U.S. or State Department of Education
  • State Cultural Divisions (Arts in Education)
  • Institute of Museum & Library Services (Museums For America)

    Corporations and Foundations
  • Banks, newspapers, office supply stores, malls, etc.
  • Free art exhibitions of student work
  • Monetary donations

    In-Kind Donations
  • Free field trips provided by community cultural institutions
  • Donations of art supplies, books, holiday gifts, clothing, etc. through community/faith-based organizations and     retailers
  • Free or reduced rental space for program site
  • Snacks provided by grocery stores, restaurants and distributors
  • Volunteers for homework assistance procured through the school district or local charity organizations
  • Donated time by local artists and musicians for special projects

    Museum
  • Holiday toy or clothing drive conducted at museum
  • Volunteers and mentors secured through museum volunteer program
  • Hosting of events and exhibitions of children's artwork at museum
  • Donations by museum members
