Position:                      Art Educator

Department:               Art Institute

Supervisor:                Director of the Art Institute

 

 Position Summary:

This position is responsible for planning and implementing programs within the Art Institute including art classes, winter/spring/summer and one day fun day camps, drop in workshops. Dealing with children, parents, volunteers and other staff members in a positive, enthusiastic and responsible manner is essential. Art Educators should also be available to help in the development and implementation of other museum programs and tasks on an as needed bases. Additional programs and tasks include: Development and implementing tour, exhibit, outreach and workshop activities, exhibit refurbishment, upkeep of the museum offices, studios and storage areas, special events such as Free Fridays, Exhibit Openings, Children’s Festival of the Arts, Art Institute Shows and Open House.    

 

Job Responsibilities:

  • Develop curricula and write lesson plans for all art programs as needed
  • Create examples and research artists and artistic styles used as teaching tools for classes, camps, school andcommunity outreach, exhibits, special workshops and special events (Children’s Festival, Free Friday, etc.)
  • Teach art classes, camps, one day fun days, parent’s night out camps
  • Maintain assigned art studio, conduct inventory, reorder art materials with request form and prior approval from the Director of the Art Institute
  • Serve as exhibit interpreter and implement programs

Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • At least a BA in Art or Art Education
  • Computer skills including Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, Publisher
  • Exceptional creativity and knowledge of current and historical theories in art and art education
  • Exceptional organizational and time management skills
  • Strong customer service and communication skills to deal with children, parents, volunteers and staff
  • Experience developing and implementing curriculum
  • Team player with a can-do attitude

 

Position:                       Early Childhood Educator

Department:                Art Institute

Supervisor:                 Director of the Art Institute

 

Position Summary:

This position is responsible for planning and implementing early childhood programs within the Art Institute including Mommy and Me classes, Play Space Parters: Movement, Sensory, Music, Science, Story Time, drop in workshops, winter/spring/summer and one day fun day camps and early childhood birthday parties. Dealing with children, parents, volunteers and other staff members in a positive, enthusiastic and responsible manner is essential. Early Childhood Educators should also be available to help in the development and implementation of other museum programs and tasks on an as needed bases. Additional programs and tasks include: Development and implementing early childhood tour, exhibit, outreach and workshop activities; exhibit refurbishment, upkeep of the playspace, playspace office, studios and storage areas, special events such as Free Fridays, Exhibit Openings, Children’s Festival of the Arts, Art Institute Shows and Open House.

Position:                       Museum Educator

Department:                Education & Exhibits

Supervisor:                 Director of Education & Exhibits

 

Position Summary:

This position is responsible for performing museum tours and conducting community outreach programs.  Dealing with children, parents, volunteers and other staff members in a positive, enthusiastic and responsible manner is essential. Museum Educators should also be available to help in the development and implementation of other museum programs and tasks on a need basis. Additional programs and tasks include: Development and implementing tour, exhibit, outreach and workshop activities, exhibit refurbishment, upkeep of the museum floor and storage areas, special events such as Free Fridays, Exhibit Openings, Children’s Festival of the Arts, Art Institute Shows and Open House.    

 

 

Responsibilities: 

  • Greet, assist, organize and conduct museum tours using prepared materials and scripts.
  • Assist with the coordinating and implementing of outreach programs, drop-in workshops, exhibit openings, and other special events.
  • Regularly clean, organize, and restock museum floor supplies. 
  • Perform opening/and or closing museum procedures.

 

Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:   Associate degree in general studies, education, theater, art or related field a plus; Experience teaching art and/or community educational programs preferred; Strong communication & customer service skills; positive and energetic attitude; Great opportunity for college-aged students in the education, art, communication, or theater.
