In 1989, a small museum with a big idea – that art is central to shaping young minds and enriching our community – opened in a tiny, 3,200 sq. ft. storefront, with hundreds of children and adults lining the street on opening day.
That was the auspicious beginning of Young At Art. And now here we are in our beautiful and contemporary new home, exemplifying the magic and joy that art brings to our lives.
The new Young At Art is a holistic approach to artistic learning where exhibit galleries, art studios and library coalesce into an enriching arts-based experience. It is a place where art has been woven into every hands-on experience and where artists have come together to provide inspiration for our children and ourselves.
Exposure to the arts not only plays a critical role in a child’s development, but continues to impact critical thinking skills and creativity throughout his or her life. To me, when children make art, it is the sheer joy, delight and freedom they get from the process that is most significant.
The future is exciting for YAA — but we need your help. Young At Art is a not-for-profit museum, which relies on tax-deductible contributions from people like you. Your gift allows us to fill the critical void in arts education and build a child’s passion for lifelong learning through art.
