Welcome to the Young At Art Institute!
The Young At Art Institute is a 7,500 sq. ft. wing of our new museum featuring the finest, state-of-the-art studios for ceramics, printmaking, cartooning and film, digital and darkroom photography, mixed media, drawing and painting.
The Institute’s curriculum, delivered by professional and visiting guest artists, introduces the elements of art and the principles of design through an interdisciplinary approach to learning. Age-appropriate art-making experiences for children, teens and adults are interwoven with art appreciation, history, culture and criticism. Our meaningful structure encourages students of all ages to grow through engagement with the arts, with exploration of a variety of exciting art mediums, learn from our team of qualified art instructors in professionally equipped studios, build self esteem through accomplishment and share their work at Young At Art Institute exhibit showcases throughout the year.

Afternoon & Weekend Classes
Ceramics
Learn the basics of hand building: wedging, coils, slabs to glaze and fire unique ceramic sculptures.
Ages: 5-7
Drawing and Painting
Develop new skills & techniques through a variety of media: acrylic, gouache, watercolor, ink, charcoal & pastel.
Ages: 5-13, 14-17, Adults
Paint Print
Learn a variety of printmaking techniques; silk screening, collograph, relief and develop your painting skills as you work with a variety of media.
Ages: 5-7, 8-13, Adult
Mixed Media
Mix and match in this super sampler class including ceramics, photography, drawing, painting, printmaking, and more.

Special Needs
This class is designed for children with special needs of varying degrees and their caregiver. Watch children come alive with tactile and sensory focused curriculum. Parents, aides, and caregivers learn how art therapy can be used on a regular basis to communicate with your special artists.

Darkroom & Digital Photo
Experience the rich history of a retro art form. Shoot, process, develop, and print 35mm film. Take digital images into the Digital Art Studio and learn to use Adobe Photoshop to alter images.

Ceramics and Potter’s Wheel
Develop hand building and sculpture techniques and learn the basics of wheel throwing and glazing techniques.

Digital Cartooning
Join cartoonist Marcos Rivera for this intensive cartooning workshop. Learn how to create digital art and animation using iPads.
Ages: 8-13, 14-17
Digital Art
Join digital artist Karen Nir and discover how to create and edit images to design unique digital compositions and one-of-a-kind illustrations using some of today’s latest technologies.
Ages: 14-17
Advanced Digital Cartooning
This advance course will allow students to take their digital cartoons to the next level. Learn advanced techniques in cartooning and animation while working on an iPad in the Digital Art Studio with cartoon artist Rob Cabrera/Marcos Rivera.
Prerequisite: Digital Cartooning
Ages: 10-13, 14-17
Potter’s Wheel
Join instructor Niko Yulis in the Ceramics Studio and learn how to create ceramic forms on the wheel. Learn the basics of centering and pulling up pots to new heights, as well as glazing techniques.

Adult Mixed Media
Adults will sample drawing, painting, printmaking and photography under the supervision of art professionals in our new state of the art studios.
